Home is where the heart is. The plan to flood prime farmland and disrupt a farming community with a history spanning up to six generations, and ruin the ecosystem of an important and valuable river is just heart breaking. Tillegra is on the Williams River, the head waters of which arise in the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park. The catchment of the Williams River is a vital complementary component of the famous Hunter Valley.

The No Tillegra Dam Group calls for a moratorium on the plan to construct Tillegra Dam, in order to allow for appropriate studies on the probable effects of the proposed dam. The Group would rather see efforts to provide viable long-term solutions other than dam construction for sustainable water supply and management.

It’s not just about water…

Our future needs good farmland not just more urban development.
Our future needs viable communities in the country as well as the city.
Our future needs efficient and smart ways of living not just quick fixes.
Our future needs water supply solutions that are sustainable in the long term.

We need a drought-proofing plan that values every drop of water including that going down the drain. A plan that values consultation. A plan that sees every resource as precious, including prime-quality farmland and precious rivers and their special environment. A plan that says we need all these for our future.
