Who is Misinformed Now?

It is interesting to follow Hunter Water CEO Kevin Young’s ever changing reasons why the Tillegra Dam should be built (Tillegra Debate Flawed, Weekend Newcastle Herald, 25 October). The latest is that all those opposing the dam are misinformed and suffering from an attack of the emotives. I would never have thought that water specialists, environmental economists, scientists, a number of Government Bodies, The Wilderness Society, weather experts, The Total Environment Centre and other leading environmental groups would view the world like this. More like facts and figures and the collection of data and evidence. A growing number of the public have now also done their homework and in two recent polls conducted by the Newcastle Herald, have clearly demonstrated to Hunter Water that there are better ways to manage water in the Hunter. The only emotive ones would be those who have been forced off their land, after, in some cases, five generations.

So, are we all misinformed Mr Young, or should you go back to the drawing board to manage the Hunter’s water supply in a more efficient manner?
