Keystone Cops

Dave Watson is right to be worried that the same Department of Commerce that bought us the Bathurst hospital fiasco is to also oversee the proposed Tillegra Dam. Of even greater concern is that this dam is the brainchild of the same state government that seems to stagger from one crisis and scandal to another.

If it isn’t the diabolical state of our health, transport and education systems, it’s some other major debacle such as the antics in Wollongong and the ALP’s supposed relationship with the property development industry. The latest gem regarding our infrastructure needs to come from this modern day band of Keystone Cops is to flog off the power industry just in time to pork barrel their way back into power at the next state election. How can we have any confidence in this lot and trust their judgment that building this dam is indeed the best way to deal with securing future water supplies when nearly everything they touch turns into an unmitigated disaster? It’s just a shame that they cannot be summarily dismissed by the governor and replaced by an administrator. Perhaps then we could learn what’s really gone on behind closed doors regarding the decision to construct a dam rather than using smarter, less environmentally damaging technology.
