Council dam policy

Nov 2nd, 2008 by admin | 0

A resolution was passed at Dungog Shire Council’s last monthly meeting 21/10/2008 in response to a motion put put forward by Councillor Joe Thompson requesting Dungog Council to formally oppose the development of Tillegra Dam.

The motion was passed which read something like this:

1. Dungog Shire Council requests that the State Government undertakes a independent, extensive review of the need for Tillegra Dam & investigates all possible options.

2. Dungog Shire Council requests that Hunter Water fund a statistically, relevant survey of Dungog Shire residents regarding their views on the Tillegra Dam proposal.

3. Dungog Shire Council adapt a clear policy to provide guidance to staff as soon as possible.

A Dungog Chronicle article prior to the council meeting and outlining Cr Thompson’s reasoning can be found here.
